Rape in its simplest form is not just an urgent, unexpected sexual desire that needs to be satisfied. Instead, it is the violent expression of power against another.
One Rabiu Abdulquadri who is an Imam, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command after raping a 22-year old girl, shaved her pubic hair and collected her nails, saying it was so he could prepare a favor charm for her.
The victim who was simply identified as Jennifer, accused Abduquadri of raping her in his home at Abule-Ojo, Obafemi Owode LGA, Ogun State.
The imam, called Alfa Cisse had apparently approached Jennifer on December 28, 2014 and told her he had a vision about her.
He ( Abduquadri) asked her (Jennifer) to accompany him to his mosque for prayers, and she did. At night the cleric allegedly instructed her to strip herself naked and shaved strands of hair from her head, armpit and private parts, after which he had a carnal knowledge(Raped) of her.
It was also learnt that he told her to come back for a charm that would bring favour to her the following day.
When our correspondent visited the victim on Wednesday, she said, “He and some clerics prayed for me. In the night, he woke me up, collected my nails, hairs and slept with me not minding my menstrual discharge. He said he would use them to prepare a charm for me to get favour."
Personally i think there should be an enacted law to curb this rape issue, because i can't just fathom why our daughter's, sister's, friends, mother's can't work freely on the streets without being afraid of what the man coming from behind or in front of her would do to her, or is it the insecurity issues that has bedeviled our great country? what i think is let this crime be punishable by death, only then can it be stopped.
